Family Fun Friday
Have you heard of DISC? It's a personality style test. I'm reading a book called, "Different Children, Different Needs" by Charles Boyd. The crux of the book is God made us with specific personality bents. I've been observing my clan and came up with this observation:
Jeff is mostly a Corrective/Conscientious type- The C
I am mostly a Supportive/Soft-hearted with a lot of Interactive/Influencing type- SI
Alisha is an Interactive/Influencing type- The I
Hannah is mostly an Interactive/Influencing with a lot of Supportive/Soft-hearted type- IS
and
Caleb is Directive/Determined type- The D
Let me illustrate how these "labels" work out in the family dynamic. I will refer to aforementioned labels for the remainder of my blog.
Below rest the hundreds of colorful rubber bands The D bossed the SI into buying him. I don't want to spoil the book if you decide to read it, but let's just say The D hypnotically affects those around him to act before thinking.
SI purchased requested item. Last month a similar situation arose where SI purchased soccer shorts for The D. SI may have some issues. I digress.
The cashier at Target laughed when she heard SI paid over $6 for rubber bands.
The newest trend at school is rubber band bracelet making. Here is The D creating. Assembling. Last night bracelet making ensued. IS set aside her chores for the sake of "helping" The D. So supportive! She did more chatting than constructing and occasionally asked The D for a hug. Ok, I made the hug part up. She did not ask The D for a hug. She knows better. I sat nearby providing lots of laughs. I loves to have fun!
The D completes his masterpiece. If you look closely, the top bracelet is half MSU and half UofM. Just like The D to keep the competitive tension. This is the point C interjected. He wanted the rubber bands picked up, put away, and he didn't care if The D planned on making more later. He also informed IS to return to her abandoned chores and C didn't care if IS had homework to do. C retreated, after administering the corrections to The D and IS, into the family room for a quiet hour of t.v.
SI's finished project. Breast Cancer awareness colors. Clearly her sensitive/influencing side emerging.
In case you're considering risking $6 on rubber bands, I do believe it's worth it. The D finished eight bracelets in less then forty-eight hours!
